2. By entering this competition, all participants and prize winners agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of the competition.

4. To enter, shoppers must spend R150 or more at uShaka Village Walk, during the dates of this competition.

5. This competition excludes uShaka Park Ticketing Office and Dangerous Creatures.

6. It is however valid for Sea Animal Encounters Island Wahooz and at Participating outlets within the uShaka Village Walk Beach Mall.

7. To enter the original till slip must be attached to the completed entry form, and drop into the entry box.

8. Only 1 X original till slip may make up the R150 total.

9. One entry form per till slip, as in “Spend R115 or more” and enter

10. Guests may enter more than once.

11. In order to enter the competition, you have to legibly complete the entry form questions as well as provide us with your correct contact details.

12. Entry boxes can be found in the uShaka Village Walk Mall food court.

13. Only original pay point receipts from uShaka Marine World participating outlets dated between 24 June and 19 July 2022 will be valid in order to enter into the competition.

14. The winner’s prize will be couriered to their address and all prizes must be redeemed before the expiry dates. No extensions will be allowed and Prizes are not exchangeable for cash

15. Entries will be drawn at random on the 21 July 2022, and the winner will be notified.

16. uShaka will endeavour to contact the winner on the telephone number and email address provided. If, however they cannot be reached after 4 attempts have been made during business hours within a period of one week for any reason whatsoever, the prize will be forfeited and another winner will be selected.

17. By participating in this competition uShaka Marine World reserves the rights to use all written content on the entry forms for marketing and promotional purposes.

18. The winner may be requested to allow his/her name and photograph to be used for publicity purposes. The Promoter reserves the right to request that images taken of the winner or staff be used for publicity purposes in any manner they deem fit, without any further remuneration being made payable to the winner, this request the winner may decline in writing.

19. The participants of this competition and winners may be required to appear on television or radio, in print publications or online sites to endorse, promote or advertise the goods or services at uShaka Marine World. However, participants / winners of the competition shall at all times be entitled to decline the above request.

20. The Promoters reserve the right, to at any time, verify the validity of entries and to disqualify any participant who submits an entry that is in breach of these terms and conditions. Failure by the Promoters to enforce any of their rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.

21. By entering this competition, you authorize uShaka Marine World to collect, store and use (not share) personal information of entrants for communication or statistical analysis purposes.

22. Guest information will be captured for communication or statistical analysis purposes. Once information has been captured all entry forms will be stored in a sealed container for 5 years for auditor purposes.

23. All information collected and stored will ensure compliance with POPIA

24. Personal information captured will not be given out to another party. Only those that have requested being put onto our database will be done.

25. The judges’ decision is final and no further correspondence will be entered into.

26. By entering this competition, entrants agree to and accept the full Terms and Conditions as stated on www.ushakamarineworld.co.za. These are also available in hard copy at all participating stores and at uShaka Marine World Reception.

27. Any participating outlet may at any time withdraw from the participation in this competition, with uShaka Marine Worlds approval.

28. The Promoter shall have the right to terminate the competition immediately and without notice for any reason beyond its control requiring this. In the event of such termination, all participants agree to waive any rights that they may have in terms of this promotion and acknowledge that they will have no recourse against the Promoter, its agents and staff.

29. The competition will run till the 19 July 2022 or until all entry forms are used up. 

30. All risk and liability pertaining to any prize will be passed to the winner on receiving the prize. By signing receipt of prizes from official courier winners indemnify the Landlord and its agents against any claim that may arise as a result of the competition and/or prize awarded to any winner.

Who CAN enter? 

The Audition is open to aspiring DJ’s of all genres, however; uShaka Marine World is a popular domestic and international tourist destination, therefore your selection of music as a DJ will be highly judged. DJ’s who can play various genres and can adapt to different markets i.e. popular music are preferred.
As a DJ at uShaka Marine World you should also be able to speak on the mic, as you will be expected to make announcements as well as engage with guests.
Participants must be 18yrs or older to enter.
Citizens of the Republic of South Africa or permanent residents of South Africa

Who CAN’T enter? 

We love the well-known and established DJ’s; however priority will be given to the undiscovered, unknown DJ talents.
Participants must be 18yrs or older to enter.
Employees of Durban Marine Theme Park (DMTP) otherwise known as uShaka Marine World, their spouses and/or children or immediate families, cannot enter this Audition.
Illegal foreigners are not eligible to enter this audition and are not legible to work at uShaka Marine World.

How will I know if I have been selected? 

Once we have gathered all the entries, we will contact you via email. So keep a lookout for an email from uShaka Marine World. We will then give you the date and time when you are expected to perform at the audition.

 
What will I win? 

Should you be chosen as 1 of the 4 resident DJ’s, you will be retained by uShaka Marine World on a 12 month contract, which will resume in July 2022 until June 2023. 4 DJ’s will be selected as resident DJ’s and booked on rotation based on availability.

How much will I get paid, once booked? 

Once selected as one of the 4 DJ’s, performance fees will be negotiated with each individual selected resident DJ. This fee will be negotiated in the performance contract.

What do I need to bring? 

All selected participating DJ’s are to supply their own headphones, laptop, music (on a USB). If other equipment is used other than that supplied, e.g. own CDJ, points will be deducted from your final score. The purpose is to provide an even playing field for all DJ’s taking part.

No pre-mixed music will be allowed. All mixing must be done at the audition.

 
What about the sound? 

uShaka Marine World will supply the following and will have a technician on standby.

• 2 Pioneer CDJ 350
• 1 Pioneer DJM 750 MK2 (4 channel DJ Mixer)
• 2 RCF ART 715 front PA speakers
• 2 RCF Sub Series front PA (Bass bins)
• 1 EV ZLX stage monitor
• 1 Shure SM58 Cordless mic

Can my friends and family come to watch?

Definitely! You are encouraged to bring as many supporters as you can to support you.

 
Who are the judges? 

The judges are yet to be confirmed and you will find out who they are on the day.

What will I be judged on? 

DJs will be scored on: Choice of music, mixing ability, hosting ability (use of microphone) and audience engagement. So bring you’re A-GAME! Note that a script may be given to you to add onto your set, so be ready for anything.
VULGAR and Offensive Language is strictly prohibited! Should any of your music contain any vulgar language as deemed so by the judges, points will be deducted (up to -20 points) from your final score, and music will be stopped. You will be given only 1 more chance to perform on the day, however, this decision will be left up to the judges to make.
It is therefore important to know what music you are playing, and if playing in a different language, it is your responsibility as a DJ to know what the lyrics mean.

Time 

It is your responsibility as a DJ to act professionally. Should you arrive late for the sessions as per time communicated, the judges reserve the right to:
- Deduct up -20 points from your final score depending on your lateness.
- To refuse to let you perform and disqualify you immediately from the audition.
It is important to remember that this audition is for a working contract at uShaka Marine World. Therefore professionalism and time keeping are of utmost importance.

 
How much time will I have to perform? 

Each DJ will be given sufficient time (up to 15 minutes), so prep your music accordingly as you may be asked to play longer. However, the judges reserve the right to “STOP DECKS” should they feel that the music or performance of the DJ is vulgar or offensive or is not up to the required minimum standards. So choose your playlist carefully, watch what you say and bring your A-Game.
If the judges STOP DECKS the participant will immediately be eliminated and not scored.

Is there a specific genre selected? 

There is no specific genre. We are open to all genres, as long as the music is entertaining and is not vulgar or offensive. Be it, Popular Music, Gqom, RAVE, HOUSE, HIP-HOP, RnB we want to hear you play it. However it is vitally important that you are able to mix different music styles for different audiences and remember that uShaka Marine World is a family orientated destination which caters for audiences with different tastes.

What happens after the Auditions? 

Once you have been selected to be part of the uShaka Resident DJ’s list, you will be required to follow the following steps:
- You will receive a call from uShaka Marine World once all the scores have been tallied and informed telephonically if you have made it as 1 of the 4 resident DJ’s
- Contract and fee negotiations will resume as soon as possible
- You are require to have the following in order for payments to be processed:
o Register your company/ yourself on the Central Supplier Database (CSD) https://secure.csd.gov.za/
o Once registered on CSD you will be able to register on the eThekwini vendor portal https://ethekwinivendor.durban.gov.za/
o Once you have registered on these portals, uShaka Marine World will be able to use your services as one of the resident DJ’s
- You will then receive communication from the uShaka Marine World Entertainment department as to the booking schedule based on the agreed rates, dates and times.

Rules and Regulations for participants: Zulu Dance Championships

Zulu Dance Championships is run by DMTP/ uShaka Marine World in which various Zulu dance groups will have the opportunity to be selected to perform at uShaka Marine World. By participating in this audition process, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and voluntarily agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions in their entirety. The effective date of these Terms and Conditions shall be the date you register for your Auditions entry.
Prior to submitting entry into the auditions, please confirm that you meet the Requirements below.

Pre-entry into the auditions will be accepted from 31st March 2022.  uShaka Marine World reserves the right to allow walk-in audition registrations on the day of the auditions, before 12h00.

1. Eligibility Requirements.

You must be able to prove at the time of your registration and audition that:
a. All group members are Kwazulu Natal residents who are available to work at uShaka Marine World upon request and
b. Neither you nor any of your immediate family members (spouse, ex-spouse, parents, siblings, children, step-children) or members of your household (whether or not related to you) are current employees, directors, officers, independent contractors, agents, or representatives of Durban Marine Theme Park (uShaka Marine World); any person or entity involved in the management, booking, or other exploitation of uShaka Marine World’s entertainment, Zulu Dance Championships or any variation thereof;
c. You and all group members are eligible to work in South Africa i.e. a Citizen of the Republic of South Africa or permanent residents of South Africa

2. Audition Pre-Entry Requirements.

You will submit audition registration as per requirements below:

a. Your Audition must comply with the requirements of this Section.
b. Producer reserves the right to determine, in its sole discretion, the eligibility of you and your Audition.
c. Audition pre-registration should be submitted to nndlovu1@ushakamarineworld.co.za from 08:00a.m on 28th March 2022.
d. All audition entries should have the following details: name of the group, number of group members, genre i.e. Mzansi/Indlamu.
e. DMTP/ uShaka Marine World reserves the right in its sole discretion to modify or change the eligibility requirements or submission requirements hereunder from time to time and such modifications will be effective immediately without notice.
f. DMTP/ uShaka Marine World reserves the right in its sole discretion, to allow walk-in entries on the day of the audition.

 
3. Audition Content.

Auditions must conform to the requirements of these Terms and Conditions.
The Terms and Conditions may be amended from time to time.
a) Multiple audition registrations by any group will not be accepted.
b) Audition content must NOT contain material which is sexually explicit, obscene, pornographic, violent (for example, relating to murder, weapons, cruelty, abuse, etc.), discriminatory (based on race, sex, religion, national origin, physical disability, sexual orientation or age), illegal (for example, underage drinking, substance abuse, computer hacking, etc.), offensive, threatening, profane or harassing.
c) Auditions must NOT contain derogatory references to DMTP/ uShaka Marine World or any of its affiliates.

4. Audition Judging

a) Auditions will be judged by a panel. Groups shortlisted in this process will be contacted for further details. The selection from this process does not guarantee a place in the uShaka Marine World entertainment schedule.

b) The judgment of the panel will be full and final, and not subject to questioning from any participants.

5. Further Documentation.

 
a) In the event uShaka Marine World chooses you or your groupto be part of the uShaka Marine World entertainment schedule, you will be required to register yourself or your group on the National Treasury Supplier database (CSD), as well as the eThekwini Municipality supplier database (JDE). Failure to register on these platforms shall mean that DMTP/ uShaka Marine World is unable to utilize your services.
b) Once selected and offered a contract, your group will be added onto a panel of 4 Zulu Dance groups who will be booked on rotation for 12 months.
c) DMTP/uShaka Marine World shall also require you to sign and agree to all of the terms and conditions of additional forms, including, without limitation, a Performance Agreement (Contract) which shall be based on a performance schedule.

6. Disqualifications:

a) uShaka Marine World reserves the right to disqualify and/or exclude, in its sole and absolute discretion, any individual from the audition process for any reason or, including without limitation, violation of any portion of these Terms and Conditions, or tampering with the entry process or the audition process.
b) uShaka Marine World also reserves the right to change these Terms and Conditions at any time, with or without notice. Being chosen to audition in this process does NOT ensure that you will be selected to perform at uShaka Marine World or any of its properties.

7. Representations and Warranties / Indemnification.

You represent and warrant as follows:

 a) The Audition does not and will not violate any applicable laws, and meets the Audition entry Requirements
b) You agree to indemnify DMTP (Shaka Marine World), its subsidiaries, and any other entities involved in Zulu Dance Championship against any claims, damages, law suits or losses that may arise due to your participation in this audition.

8. Audition Performance

 
a) Each group will be allocated a maximum time of 8 minutes to audition. Therefore it is the responsibility of each group to ensure that they are ready once they have been allocated a performance time.
b) uShaka Marine World reserves the right to make changes to the allocated time based on operational requirements on the day of the performance/s.

9. Photography and Video release

 
As the hosts of the auditions, uShaka Marine World, may take photographs and video for use of uShaka Marine World social media platforms, including but not limited to:
a. Facebook
b. Instagram
c. Twitter
d. Tik Tok
e. uShaka Marine World website

g. DMTP/ uShaka Marine World reserves the right in its sole discretion, to allow walk-in entries on the day of the audition.

a) uShaka Marine World, shall provide the following technical specifications:
a. PA System
b. Microphones
b) It is therefore an expectation that each band will have its own:
a. Guitar/s
b. Keyboard/s
c. Drums/drumkit
d. Any other equipment required over and above what is supplied by /uShaka Marine World.
c) Each band will be allocated a maximum time of 20 minutes to setup and maximum of 30 minutes to perform and 10 minutes to unplug. Therefore a total of 60 minutes will be allocated to each band. Failure to set up during the allocated time will result in the performance time being decreased.
d) Should uShaka Marine World experience load-shedding/ power outage during any of the performances/auditions; auditions may be postponed for a later time i.e. after load-shedding or the following week, should the dates allow.
e) uShaka Marine World shall do its best to monitor load-shedding schedules, however, this is not within the control of DMTP/ uShaka Marine World; therefore, no band shall be entitled to another performance unless otherwise advised or stipulated by the judges.
9. Photography and Video release
As the hosts of the auditions, uShaka Marine World, may take photographs and video for use of uShaka Marine World social media platforms, including but not limited to:

3. To enter, guests must participate in the uShaka Teens Birthday Competition during the promotional period.
4. You must be between ages 13 – 18 to qualify.
5. Upload a creative dance video of yourself and your friends to qualify for an entry on TikTok, Facebook and Instagram and include #uShakaTeensBirthday hashtag.
6. The videos and images taken as part of the photo-shoot will be used to promote this package.
7. In order to enter the competition, you have to legibly complete the entry process as well as provide us with your correct contact details.
8. Entries will be drawn at random on the dates selected, and winners will be notified.
9. uShaka Marine World will endeavour to contact the winner/s on the telephone number / social media platform provided and address provided. 15. uShaka Marine World shall have the right to terminate the competition immediately and without notice for any reason beyond its control requiring this. In the event of such termination, all participants agree to waive any rights that they may have in terms of this promotion and acknowledge that they will have no recourse against uShaka Marine World, its agents and staff.
16. All risk and liability pertaining to any prize will be passed to the winner on signing over and receipt thereof. By signing receipt of prizes at uShaka reception, winners indemnify the Landlord and its agents against any claim that may arise as a result of the competition and/or prize awarded to any winner.

• On acceptance of an application, members will be issued with an uShaka Marine World Play Pass card. Any lost or stolen cards may be replaced by the company at the then-current replacement card fee, to be paid by the member.
• Kids under the age of 2 gain FREE entry into uShaka Kids World therefore do not purchase a Play Pass. Upon the child’s 3rd Birthday, the child will have to purchase Play Pass or pay the normal day rate for access into uShaka Kids World.
• A member is subject to attend uShaka Kids World with their valid Play pass card.
• Any members attending uShaka Kids World without their valid Play pass card on hand will be subject to purchase a re-issued card at the then current re-issue card fee in order to access the park. In the event of a member attempting to access the park, and does not present their valid membership card, and/or not willing to purchase a reissued card at the then present reissue fee, will not be granted access to the uShaka Kids World.
• A member must notify the company immediately by telephone, and confirm in writing, all details of any lost or stolen uShaka Marine World Play Pass card.
• A member must notify the company immediately in writing of any change of address, telephone number or any other relevant information.
• If/When you purchase a Play Pass voucher you must retain your till slip and produce it on the day of claiming your Play Pass card
• The Play Pass card will not be issued without a proof of payment of the Play pass voucher.
• PLAY Pass Vouchers must be redeemed within 2 months from date of purchase; the voucher will become invalid after 2 months of purchase date.
• All Play Pass card holders will need to purchase tickets to any added events, concerts, productions and special appearances occurring inside the Park.

1. The company shall be entitled to terminate a members Play Pass without notice if the member Is sequestrated or deceased
2. Fails to comply with these Terms and Conditions and rules and regulations of the park.
3. Fails to renew the card timeously, or
4. Does not use his or her uShaka Marine World Card for a period of 6 consecutive months
5. Supplies the Company or any of its representatives or agents, or any merchant, with any wrong or misleading information concerning the uShaka Marine World.

• Any tax of whatsoever nature, which is levied on a member arising from the member’s participation in the uShaka Marine World, shall be the responsibilities of the Member.

The Company commits to take reasonable steps to ensure that member data is kept in a secure location and is protected from unauthorized physical and technical access or disclosure.
The Company may send promotional material to its members from time to time. Each member has the right to require that the company desist from sending the member such communications.


CANCELLATION OF PLAY PASS

A member may terminate his/her Play Pass at any time by giving written notice to the Company. Such termination will become effective on receipt of the written notice by the Company.
Upon termination or expiry of the membership, the Member shall not be entitled to use his/her uShaka Marine World Play Pass.


The Play Pass fee is non-refundable on cancellation.

Platinum Passes

• PLATINUM PASSES

• By completing the Entry Form and applying for the Platinum Pass and/or by using his or her uShaka Marine World Platinum Pass card or Pass number, the member shall be taken to have agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions as varied from time to time.
• Only individuals or natural persons may become Platinum Pass holder.
• The company has sole discretion to refuse an application for Platinum Pass without giving any reason for such refusal.
• Kids under 3 years lid get free entrance into Sea World and Wet n Wild; therefore do not need to purchase a Platinum Pass. Upon the child’s 3rd birthday the child will be required to obtain their own Platinum Pass Card or pay the full Child Rate at the gate for each visit to the Park.
• On acceptance of an application, members will be issued with an uShaka Marine World Platinum Pass card. Any lost or stolen cards may be replaced by the company at the then-current replacement card fee, to be paid by the member.
• A member is subject to attend the park with their valid platinum pass card.
• Any members attending the park without their valid platinum pass card on hand will be subject to purchase a re-issued card at the then current re-issue card fee in order to access the park.
• In the event of a member attempting to access the park, and does not present their valid membership card, and/or not willing to purchase a reissued card at the then present reissue fee, will not be granted access to the park.
• It will be required for the member to produce their Platinum Pass Card upon entry to uShaka Marine World
• If a member is utilising their benefit of purchasing discounted tickets for friends/family, the member is subject to join the ticketing queue.
• A member must notify the company immediately by telephone, and confirm in writing, all details of any lost or stolen uShaka Marine World Platinum Pass card.
• A member must notify the company immediately in writing of any change of address, telephone number or any other relevant information.
